This is my permanent Kay Faraday open post. Spam me with prompts, picture prompts, AUs, and the like. Indicate canon point or universe when necessary. Please note that I don't do slash, smut, anything sexual or anything overly and excessively violent.

Choose a canon point, any canon point! Even from AAI2, why not.	7-8 years later, AJ/DD era. Prosecutor who studied under Miles Edgeworth. Still hyper and makes thief jokes. Still the Yatagarasu.

[They may just. Edgeworth did schedule an entire day for this, after all. The question is how comfortable he would be with the idea of accepting someone else's help with this problem. He is suddenly clearly a lot more comfortable now that the subject is on laying the groundwork for the future pursuit of truth, after all.]

[Kay extends a hand for her phone after a quick salute.]

Okay! Ready for one more swim to the shore? [She asks only because he might need a short break after swimming to her hideout.]

No problem!

[truthsnomiracle]

[Edgeworth hands the phone back to Kay with one hand while tapping his temple with the opposite hand's finger and grinning smugly.]

Hmph. A short swim on the surface is a trivial matter. Do lead the way, young lady.

[yatagarasu]

[She stashes the phone back into the bag on her belt.]

Well, if you say so! Try to keep up!

[Kay dives off the rock and into the water before leaping up and twisting in midair on her way to the sandy shore - what a show off. She leaps out again, in time with a dolphin, before slowing down and glancing over her shoulder.]

Isn't the water pretty? It's nice, clear, and untouched by human hands!

[truthsnomiracle]

Until today.

[That having been said, the prosecutor dives in and swims at a pace only marginally above his usual one, clearly not even dignifying the request to try to keep up with an acknowledgement.]

[yatagarasu]

[She flips over onto her back, watching him get closer. Kay was about to say that if Edgeworth wanted a day off, he could stop by, but then she realizes that it would entail talking about having to go through the underwater tunnel again...and he was probably not in the mood to talk about that right now.]

It's for a good cause. If we've got time left, you could swim around for a bit. [And Kay could be his life coach, yes.]

[Edgeworth takes the time to swim a bit closer, then stops to tread water in order to reply.]

I have dedicated my entire day to this. However, I did so with the expectation that you have a great deal to explain that humanity has never even imagined. Please don't rush the matter simply to ensure that we have leisure time; after all, the truth is a far more crucial matter.

[yatagarasu]

[Kay gives him her usual mock pout.]

Oooh, foiled again... [She faces forward again, swimming along with a couple of dolphins.]

[truthsnomiracle]

Better for recreation be foiled by my hand than for us to be foiled at the hands of a criminal.

[That smugly satisfied dictum having been delivered, Edgeworth continues swimming towards the beach Kay pointed out.]

[Kay stops (and lets the dolphins move on) just so she can perform another leap for the sole purpose of splashing Edgeworth in the face.]

You just watch! I'll make sure no criminals foil us and you don't foil my fun!

[truthsnomiracle]

Gkk — [Edgeworth's stroke is disrupted by a futile attempt on his part to shield his face from the splash. He comes to a stop as he coughs and sputters.]

Was that necessary?!

[Before Kay can answer, however, the prosecutor continues to swim.]

[yatagarasu]

Maybe! [Kay winks before swimming onward. As she approaches shallower water, her tail transforms into a pair of legs, disrupting her movements, but she carries on until she halts in waist-deep water, standing and waiting for Edgeworth.

He's going to find more dolphins joining him for a while before turning back to the deeper end.]

See? The dolphins like you!

[truthsnomiracle]

[Edgeworth slows briefly to look around at the dolphins, frowning slightly in puzzlement.]

Hm, so it would seem... They seemed all too eager to crowd around the boat when I arrived as well.

[yatagarasu]

[They're clicking at him and nudging him and they seem happy...]

Maybe they can tell you need a little more fun in your life.

[truthsnomiracle]

Yet apparently, they can't tell that the truth is the greater need within me. (Indeed, I must wonder whether they're sapient enough to have a concept of truth.)

[To his credit, though, Edgeworth doesn't seem to actually be fighting off or avoiding the dolphins, just trying to roll with things as he continues towards Kay.]

For them, fun is probably more important.

[Good, because Edgeworth will find himself with a dolphin entourage until the water is about chest-deep.

Kay walks toward the shore until she's completely out of the water, hands in wet pockets. Then she heads for the side of the mouth of the cave and bends down to open a...water cooler?]

I have little doubt of that, given the far simpler lives they must lead.

[Kay taking things out of a water cooler doesn't strike Edgeworth as strange. She needs to store things in something, after all, and plastic is less vulnerable to the elements than cardboard, wood, or even most commonly-available metals. Not to mention, even if it's actually being used to hold provisions, they will be there long enough to need to eat.

Despite how much Edgeworth is having to stop to continue his half of the conversation and how much the dolphins' play is slowing him down, however, the prosecutor is soon not all that far from the shallows.]

[Kay brings out a couple of bottles before closing the water cooler and placing them on the lid. After that, she looks at something...possibly behind the water cooler.

She watches Edgeworth and the dolphins around him with amusement on her face, folding her arms across her chest in a casual imitation of one of his classic poses.]

If all that swimming has made you thirsty, I've got water, juice, and iced tea!

[Not to mention an entire picnic basket lurking behind the water cooler. How she got all that here without anything getting waterlogged...well, she had her ways.]

I only hope the latter is of any reasonable quality.

[Because let's face it, a lot of mass market bottled iced teas are brewed from bottom-of-the-barrel leaves and oversweetened as though to compete with soda.

The prosecutor doesn't seem to be hurrying as much as he was at the start, though he keeps his progress as steady as the situation allows without dissuading the dolphins' affection. Mere nudges and commentary weren't that bad, truth be told.]

[yatagarasu]

It wasn't easy to find good iced tea, you know!

[She might be a bit too far for him to see, but there is a twinkle in Kay's eyes as she observes Edgeworth tolerating the dolphins at least, and possibly enjoying their company at best.]

We could even have a picnic, by the way.

[truthsnomiracle]

I anticipated just such a thing, given that we'll be here all day. One cannot learn well on an empty stomach.

Should I spread the blanket now?

[truthsnomiracle]

I don't see why not, though I'm not yet hungry. I ate before the boat disembarked.

[yatagarasu]

[Kay brings out a red and white checkered picnic blanket and spreads it at the entrance of her cave of trinkets, weighing the corners down with stones. After that, she finds two dry towels - one to dry herself off, and another left neatly folded on the blanket for Edgeworth.]

Good thing you didn't get cramps on the way. [Kay...okay, she doesn't 100% believe in this but is mostly messing with him.] So, the boat's gonna come back for you?

[truthsnomiracle]

[Meanwhile, Edgeworth isn't to the shallows yet thanks mainly to how often he's having to stop to answer questions, but he is finally within reach of them.]

It took over an hour to reach the buoy, so cramps were never a concern. As for the boat, I told the sailor I hired that I'll be returning sometime before dusk. Unfortunately, given the circumstances, I couldn't give him a more specific time, but yes, he will come back sometime during the afternoon.
