This is my permanent Kay Faraday open post. Spam me with prompts, picture prompts, AUs, and the like. Indicate canon point or universe when necessary. Please note that I don't do slash, smut, anything sexual or anything overly and excessively violent.

Choose a canon point, any canon point! Even from AAI2, why not.	7-8 years later, AJ/DD era. Prosecutor who studied under Miles Edgeworth. Still hyper and makes thief jokes. Still the Yatagarasu.
Somarium	Mask or Menace
Lived with Edgeworth and Stitch. Recruited Ema, Trucy and Maya into the Yatagarasu. 19 years old. Had college plans.	Can command and talk to crows, replicate voices and sounds perfectly, and use Charter Magic. Juror for Teen Court.

As Kay dries herself off, Edgeworth does the same in much the way he did before, idiosyncratic means of wringing out his hair and all.]

[Kay is still amused and can't help but watch him wring out his hair while wiping down the rest of her body.]

I'm gonna see you do that more often, aren't I? It never gets old!

[Edgeworth shrugs.]

I suppose you will. It is what it is; I fail to see why you find it quite that entertaining. (But at the very least, it's better than being amused by my humiliation.)

[That having been said, the prosecutor seats himself on the larger towel where they'll be eating.]

I've never seen anyone dry off their hair like that, that's all. [She shrugs, and once she's done drying off, she doesn't pull her hair back into a ponytail but walks over to the cooler and the picnic basket.]

Okay, I brought...sandwiches, some fresh fruit, trail mix...and Swiss rolls, of course! [She continues rooting through her stash of food and drinks.] Are you still having iced tea?

Of course. What sorts of fruit and sandwiches do you have?

Apple slices, grapes...oh, oranges, too. And for sandwiches, you have your BLT and your ham and cheese, tuna, chicken...

[truthsnomiracle]

An impressive selection. I'd like a tuna sandwich and some apple slices to begin with.

[yatagarasu]

Is there still some iced tea left in the bottle?

[Kay picks up a tuna sandwich, and makes a gesture as if to toss it over to Edgeworth...but the sandwich thankfully just remains in her hand. She was just messing with you, sir.]

[truthsnomiracle]

[At least a tuna sandwich is soft enough, and the distance short enough, that the mimed toss only prompts Edgeworth to move to try to catch it rather than panic or scold Kay.]

Very little. Do you have a second bottle?

[yatagarasu]

[Kay sifts through the drinks...and comes up with another bottle.]

Ta-da! I'm always prepared!

[truthsnomiracle]

[Edgeworth nods slowly and deeply, as though trying to bow while sitting.]

Thank you.

[And now he'll refill his cup, draining the last of the first bottle before adding some from the second.]

[Kay manages to carry in her hands two sandwiches - both tuna - a container of apple slices, and a small bag of nuts, raisins and pretzels. She seats herself in front of Edgeworth, handing him one sandwich and placing the rest of the food between them.

Well, she does need to free up her hands and pour herself more of the tea, too.]

You're welcome. I gotta admit, all that swimming and explaining and shaking you out of your song made me hungry.

"My song"... [Edgeworth shudders even as he accepts the sandwich.] It's admittedly highly disturbing how the music welling up inside my mind threatened to distort it, particularly while I was actually singing it.

[The prosecutor pauses to take a bite out of the sandwich.]

It is...but we've used our songs for good. Not just for undoing other merpeople's songs, of course. Sometimes, it helps to turn ship captains away from rocks, or relax people who are panicking in the water.

[After pouring herself a cup of iced tea, Kay starts on her sandwich as well.]

Maybe one day, your merman song might come in handy. Well, once we've puzzled it out a bit more.

[Edgeworth eats a bit more and takes a sip of his own iced tea before continuing.]

Even while we were discussing it earlier, I wasn't entirely free of its influence. As such, I... failed to mention that I felt it appropriate that I should have control of you in particular. It seemed somehow right yet insufficient that you were caught up in it even on a mundane level, as perverse as it may sound. Given that merpeople normally cannot control each other, I imagine that too is an abnormal aspect of the song's influence over me.

[yatagarasu]

What? You wanted to control me?

[She gapes at him over her sandwich.]

What if...it's really just your need to reveal the truth about merpeople? I mean, this is just conjecture...I'd still need to consult experts.

[truthsnomiracle]

It seems you're continuing to try to fit square pegs into round holes when it comes to the unhealthy impulses I had. (Perhaps she simply doesn't wish to believe it... Now that I'm back to normal, I frankly find the concept all the more disturbing myself.) If that impulse stemmed from a desire to reveal the truth, why would I wish to take control of someone who was already cooperative when it came to that goal?

[yatagarasu]

[She just eats while he's talking, swallowing so she can speak without her mouth full - something he'd certainly call her out on.]

...Because I was the nearest merperson in sight?

[Judging from how she says it, Kay also doesn't think that's the reason, and she decides to just take another bite of her sandwich. When she's done chewing - ]

You can't blame me for trying to figure it out.

[truthsnomiracle]

[Edgeworth takes a bite of sandwich as Kay speaks, and swallows it before responding.]

I can, however, blame you for not applying sufficient logic to the matter. After all, that isn't something only I can do.

[But she thought it was a superpower...

Kay sighs, reaching for her cup of iced tea.]

Still, I'm sorry I can't figure that one out. On my own, anyway.

Concerning the experts you referred to, I'm left to wonder whether any would be willing to cooperate with us given our goal of revealing undersea society's existence to the human world.

[Edgeworth munches on his sandwich a bit more with a thoughtful expression.]

[yatagarasu]

[She puts down her cup, but doesn't resume eating yet.]

Hmm...I think they would. Some are interested in learning more about human society, so maybe you could work out an info trade with them?

[truthsnomiracle]

Provided we can find one who won't double-cross us, that is. After all, with the unique capabilities in play...

[Edgeworth trails off, then takes a sip of his tea.]

[yatagarasu]

They're family friends. [Kay takes a bite of her sandwich and makes sure her mouth isn't full when she talks.] Besides, you could logic your way into knowing which of the experts to trust, right?

[truthsnomiracle]

[Whoops.]

Er, yes, of course. My apologies. (She could have said as much sooner!)
