This is my permanent Kay Faraday open post. Spam me with prompts, picture prompts, AUs, and the like. Indicate canon point or universe when necessary. Please note that I don't do slash, smut, anything sexual or anything overly and excessively violent.

Choose a canon point, any canon point! Even from AAI2, why not.	7-8 years later, AJ/DD era. Prosecutor who studied under Miles Edgeworth. Still hyper and makes thief jokes. Still the Yatagarasu.
Somarium	Mask or Menace
Lived with Edgeworth and Stitch. Recruited Ema, Trucy and Maya into the Yatagarasu. 19 years old. Had college plans.	Can command and talk to crows, replicate voices and sounds perfectly, and use Charter Magic. Juror for Teen Court.

(If not for the value of the testimony I'm gaining from the discussion of it, I would almost think that so-called "deepener" was redundant.)

[Edgeworth manages to keep much of his dawning horror out of the way for his next question, though it remains wary:]

[Edgeworth appears uneasy and pensive as he writes.]

The look in your eyes at that moment was particularly striking. Despite your attentiveness, it was as though you had no glare of your own.

[Kay blinks.]

Like...I can't glare? I dunno, why would I be glaring?

[truthsnomiracle]

[Edgeworth shakes his head.]

I don't believe you lacked the ability. There were moments as we progressed when faint glimmers of purpose seemed to return to you, though only when I supplied them.

[yatagarasu]

Oh... [Kay frowns in thought, trying to imagine how she might have looked.]

Like I said, why would I be glaring at you?

As an aspect of normal attention. Most people's glares are simply rather weak.

People don't need to glare to focus on things, Mr. Edgeworth.

Er, I suppose most people don't phrase it that way... (How, then, to clarify the matter?)

Uh...no.

Is this still part of your investigation?

[Edgeworth clears his throat and crosses his arms.]

This has unfortunately turned into an unintended tangent. (Strange; she isn't usually the one to keep me on task.)

Aside from a higher degree of trust, did your perception of or perceived relationship with me change in any other way after the balloon's release?

[Her brow furrows. For a moment, she is silent.]

Ummm...I wanted to assist you. I know I'm already your assistant, but suddenly, I knew I had to do everything to help you out.

(Given that this is when I began to phrase things in terms of assistance, that comes as no surprise. Given what she's already said, ideas for further specific questions to ask about that part of the session which wouldn't be redundant elude me. Therefore...)

Is there anything else you believe to be noteworthy about what happened between then and when I began to give instructions concerning what you would remember upon awakening?

I remember a library...and I wasn't afraid or anything when you said you would have access to everything about me, I think...

(Given her last two statements and their delivery, it's almost as though, despite my suggestions of clear memories of the experience...)

Do you mean to say that you were unsure of what I was saying at that time?

[yatagarasu]

[She closes her eyes for a moment. When she opens them, she looks a bit more certain.]

No, no, I was just organizing my thoughts. There was a library. You said my mind was a library, and you could take information out of it when you wanted, and I let you.

[truthsnomiracle]

(Curious that it seems to take her additional effort to think about this portion.)

And do you know what it is that I removed?

(She should be unaware of her name. Whether she's aware that it's her name that's missing, however, I cannot say.)

[yatagarasu]

[Kay scratches her head.]

Ummm...let's see...

...

[She makes a big show of gently knocking on her forehead with her fist, stroking her chin, and even folding her arms across her chest and tapping a foot. Finally, she lets out a sigh.]

...I dunno, I can't put my finger on it. But I'm definitely sure you removed something.

[truthsnomiracle]

I'm sorry, but I had to be certain that things otherwise impossible were enabled by this apparently hypnotic system. I took nothing more and nothing less than your very name.

[His apology is the only outward expression of his pangs of guilt he allows, though. After all, the only thing really worth being ashamed of would be any accidental harm he might have caused Kay; taking her name is just a temporary inconvenience inflicted in the name of the truth, and one he made certain would remain nothing more than that.]

My...name?

[At first, she's confused. But when she tries to think of her name...]

[She mentally runs over what she knows about herself. She is the Great Thief Yatagarasu, Mr. Edgeworth's plucky young teenage assistant...

Kay gasps, clapping her hands over her cheeks, when she realizes that she can't figure out her real name. Not "Yatagarasu" or fancy titles or anything like that, her real name...she can't remember it.]

[yatagarasu]

You...you stole my name...

[Her tone is disbelieving, and for a moment she looks like a rabbit caught in truck headlights. She can remember the second KG-8 incident, her friends at school, Swiss rolls, her double chocolate chocolate chip recipe...

It's as if Kay is flipping through the files of her memory library at top speed, but nothing rings out as her name.]

[At first she's completely dumbstruck, until strangely, a big, impressed smile dawns upon her face. She laughs; she doesn't know her name but at least she knows who she is, and is positive that someone as smart as Edgeworth could return that memory to her.]

You stole my name! Now that's what I call a great technique of a Great Thief!
