[It all starts innocently ─ but then again, doesn't it always? A shadow not exactly fitting the item that casts it. A dark spot on the otherwise clear, cloudless sky. Little things that normally don't attract much attention.
Suddenly the surroundings become oddly warped and distorted, as if reality itself was being bent out of shape. Eventually the phenomena settles down, at which point Madoka will find herself in the middle of a disturbing, if not outright hellish scenery. There's no one else in sight, so it's easy to assume she's alone... until a woman's voice echoes through the chamber.]
[Madoka had learned from Mami - and Homura, of course, whenever the mysterious transfer student would suddenly show up - to watch for those subtle signs that a witch (or a witch familiar) was about. Unfortunately, knowing isn't always enough, especially when her surroundings begin to morph and change. The prickling feeling coursing from her nape and along her spine was telling her to run, to flee, to get out of here...but she couldn't. Madoka was frozen to the spot, her hands knotted close to her heart.
With wide eyes she glances this way and that, searching for the source of the voice. It's at this point that she realizes that this was not like the witches Puella Magi fought. This one was speaking.]
W-Who are you? [Where were the magical girls when she needed them? Even Kyuubey was nowhere in sight.]
[At first, no response comes, leaving Madoka surrounded by eerie silence for a moment. Finally, the voice speaks up once again:]
That's a bit rude, don't you think?
[Following that, a pillar of fire lights up further in the room, only to disappear a few seconds later ─ and in its wake stands a tall woman in a rather skimpy dress and a pointed hat. Not a witch by Puella Magi definition by any means, though there is some sort of witch-like aura to her.]
You wander into my barrier and demand to know my name before introducing yourself? Surely a cute little girl like you has better manners than this.
[While her words may suggest she's annoyed, nothing about her demeanor confirms as much; on the contrary, the confident smile on her face seems to imply she's got everything under control despite this little, ah, intrusion.]
[Madoka gasps; even though she's far from the column of fire, she still takes a big step back in surprise.
This time, as her eyes dart from side to side again, she's looking for an exit. She finds none, and is forced to confront the witch - a more dictionary version of a witch, honestly. At first, she just stands where she is...before taking a deep breath and bowing politely.]
I'm sorry...it's just that...um, are you a witch?
[She could really use a savior right now...any minute...]
[Kids these days; they have no respect for their elders, do they? To think that just a century ago, she was regarded as "the Great Magister", one of the Ten Sages... and now she's been downgraded to a mere "witch". Ah well, it's technically not wrong, and Madoka isn't the first to call her that anyway, so it doesn't bother that much.]
That is correct; I am a witch. You can call me Nine.
[The woman tilts her hat lightly in a form of greeting. It isn't difficult to notice her visitor is scared, but she makes no effort to console her ─ after all, being intimidating is a part of being a witch, no?]
Judging by your expression, I don't suppose you came here willingly, hmm?
How unusual... That makes you very special, you know.
[A small flame lights up in her hand, and she plays with it absentmindedly. It's true it's not impossible to break into her barrier without Nine letting them in, but one would have to be an extremely powerful individual to achieve such a feat. It's a little hard to believe this little girl would be one of them...]
This is my Phantom Field; only those with a strong dream can enter this place. So, tell me... what is your dream?
[Her eyes are riveted to the flame, her expression a mix of caution and curiosity. This is not the confident Madoka who made a wish and became a magical girl; neither is she the despair-ridden magical girl close to death or transformation into a witch. This is a normal enough Madoka...perhaps too normal, if what Kyuubey says about her latent magical ability is true.
A normal Madoka with...well, not a lot of dreams.]
I...don't know. [She shrugs.] I don't know what I should wish for yet.
Madoka!

Now, what do we have here...? An uninvited guest?
LATE but I am here now

I was just walking home from school, and then suddenly...the road changed.
